The 2023 Mahindra Scorpio has a drive-away price of either $41,990 or $44,990 depending on specification level but that's only until June 2023 when prices will no doubt climb to where they should be. This four-wheel-drive wagon has three rows of seats, including captain's chairs in the second row too, a great diesel motor and is definitely right up there with vehicles like Toyota's Prado and Fords Everage in most ways and better in many too. It's tough and fast, shorter than the competition which makes for less room in six seater mode up the back but it has a proper low-range transfer case and a rear locking diff. Mahindra's aren't that well known in the Australian market but they're really starting to kick some assss... check out what Roothy reckons, he's become a bit of a Mahindra fan after settling on a Pik Up ute for his personal traveller. Levuka, like all the state forests, national parks and other places the team had been trying, was technically shut to the public but the Clarks are old time friends and knew the benefits of doing a DVD in such lousy conditions. This clip explains things pretty clearly. I'm very excited by this development because I've grown to love my own Mahindra and I've always enjoyed playing with modifying vehicles. I've got pretty high expectations of off-road equipment and there's not much oif any real standard available for these superb Indian vehicles. I had a bunch of Ryebuck products I helped develop with Ben to do a final test on, which was that recent family outback trip last year - initially drawn up by the exceptionally talented engineer Zak Kubic utilising all our combined experience of Aussie conditions, we’d finalised the snorkel and exhaust designs, worked on a throttle position controller with Torqit, and fitted an under tray 80 litre water tank and side boxes from Gough Plastics up in Towsnville. We’d adapted a catch can to suit the Mahindra and I’d also fitted Mahindra’s after market suspension option, a 40mm lift with greasable shackles and fatter bodied EFS shockies. Result? Remember the Hummer H3? That's the little five cylinder petrol Hummer introduced by GMH back in 2007? Well Roothy sure did - and so does GMH - because they lent him one to do some gentle driving around Victoria. So naturaly he headed to the High Country in the middle of winter with nothing but a bunch of mates and some snow chains to drive some of the most horrible mud and slush you've ever seen. It was brilliant though and a terrific learning experience for a Queenslander who hasn't see a lot of snow. And the Hummer? Well it was still going when we left it at GMH HQ and ran for that taxi.... This dvd was made in 2007 when Editor Glenn Wright, an ex-rally driver, decided 4WD Monthly had to do the world's best vehicle testing. So we took all the latest 2007 utes out back for some of the severest flogging ever done. We had plenty of breakdowns and really found what worked and what didn't. They don't test vehicles like this anymore - too much money and influence peddling these days - and even back then 4WD Monthly was only able to get away with it because we were still driven by our copy sales and readers rather than the big companies.
