MILO'S BROTHER - Roothy

https://roothy.com.au MILO REPLICA? Roothy Over the last twenty years the original Milo I built and rebuilt and rebuilt again a few times - and hen got other people to rebuild bits along the way too! But the old girl certainly influenced a lot of people along the way. Ive seen Milo on everything from cakes to cardboard box cars, posters and wood carvings and - as a model too, a few times over. But the best one was this replica built almost to look exactly like the original. In fact he'd only stopped when it time to cut the back off which was also one of the trickiest parts of the original conversion for me. The hardest part is sourcing the panels to build a 40 wagon because they only ever built station wagon versions in Africa and only a handful of those made it over to Australia. My mate Ecky Stollberg rang me up and said he had the lot in a pile in his backyard - side rear window panels, hinged tailgate and surround. All I had to do was chop another couple of wagon doors to make a bottom talgate and, err, slice the rest up too. Some people have said that chopping the chassis might not have been roadworthy but the proof was in the 800,000kms the old girl did before she retired to the museum. If you ever get to Birdwood in south Australia make sure you check out the original Milo too! She's part of Australia's motoring history. And the replica? I nearly bought it and then it disappeared - someone told me they'd seen it on a farm down south. Maybe....
